Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at an appointment?

Every appointment will be with a pelvic health rehab specialist, for the entire length of the session. Each evaluation is 90 minutes and follow up sessions are 60 minutes of hands on, one-on-one treatment. The initial evaluation will consist of a head to toe assessment, including an internal pelvic floor assessment if indicated. We will gather all the information we need to set the best treatment plan for you. Each follow up session will be 60 minutes involving education, hands-on treatment, and personalized guided exercises to move you forward toward your goals!

Do I need a referral?

No! Montana allows direct access to a physical therapist without need for a physician referral. This means you can save valuable time and money!

How many visits will it take?

The short answer is, it depends! The course of treatment depends on your goals and chronicity of symptoms. Typically treatment will start with 1 visit per week. Each visit we are exploring new layers to get to the root of the problem and we strive to provide true and lasting relief so follow up and completing your plan of care that we discuss is important! We follow our proven 3 step method which typically consists of 12 sessions. Some people need more, some people need less…we will always be honest with you because our main goal is to get you symptom-free for EVER!

Do you treat men?

Arrow Pelvic PT specializes in treating female anatomy for pelvic floor issues.

What is the internal exam?

Pelvic floor physical therapists have specialized training in assessment of the pelvic floor muscles, nerves and connective tissues of the pelvic floor which truly sets us apart from a regular physical therapist. This is most often performed vaginally but can also be performed rectally. The internal exam and treatment is a helpful component to assessing and relieving symptoms, however it is absolutely never required. It is not the same as a pelvic exam performed by an OB or midwife and it is never the only thing addressed in a session.
